Private Art Instruction

All classes below are taught by award-winning artist, Vivian Leflore Mora.  Most instructional sessions are appropriate for anyone age 8 to adult.  Parents are welcome to remain with children during lessons.  To register for any of the classes listed, please submit a contact form.

Abstract Art Appreciation & Painting

“Abstract art is more personal than figurative art.” It has meaning to the artist that may be rarely perceived by the viewer without some explanation from the artist. But perhaps it requires no explanation since abstract art tends to hold our attention on a more subconscious level and speak to each individual personally. Abstract art has a foundation and a structure that can be understood.  In this class, you will view and discuss the work of six abstract artists ranging from slight “abstraction” of representational items to pure abstraction as in the work of Jackson Pollock. We will produce small works in the style of each artist we view.

Six (6) weeks/One and a half (1.5) hours per week. Fee: $300 (supplies provided)

Basic Drawing

Learn the basics! Artists also must learn to walk before they can run.  Great painters draw well.  Drawing is the foundation and an integral art of most visual art.  In this class you will get to know the terminology of drawing, understand line drawing, mark making, perspective, proportion, contouring, and  shading.  

Six (6) weeks/One (1) hour per week.  Fee: $240 (supplies provided)

Calligraphy for the Beginner

Chancery Italic Calligraphy is currently one of the most popular alphabets used by calligraphers. The practical uses for this writing are virtually endless. You can letter quotes, poems, invitations, envelopes, etc.!  In this class the italic upper and lower case letters, numbers, punctuation, and spacing will be taught.
